I've been de-hydrating...

When we are released from 'house arrest' and you get out on your first full mountain day for months what will you be snacking on? Looks like I'll have a range of savoury and sweet dried options...

The de-hydrator runs overnight and creates fruit and vegetable crisps. These can also be added to other dried foods and used to make a nutritious camp meal that is free from preservatives and with little pack weight. Think vegetable rice and pear and apple custard.

Of course the best use for a de-hydrator is to build reserve of storable foods in time for the zombie apocalypse.

I must say that everything tastes so much better when dried. Banana is astounding in it's flavour as is apple. The vegetables I've tried, butternut squash, carrot and kale were delicious when lightly salt and peppered.
