August 1st. Pen y Fan horseshoe from the Neuadd reservoir. A day of all weathers! Started with drizzle and the cloud down then clear, sunny and warm as we climbed on to the ridge. Visited the trig point with its memorial plaques (unique in my experience) near the top of the path before the youngest group member navigated us on a compass bearing to the spitfire crash site. Then, in typical Beacons fashion, the cloud and rain rolled in. The rain only lasted half an hour but the cloud stayed putwhile we traversed Corn Du and Pen y Fan. Crybin was clear though for some great views and by the time we were going down the Roman road back to the cars the clouds had lifted and the entire route was visible. A great mountain day.
